Oven-roasted until tender and caramelized, these cabbage steaks are finished with a bright, creamy cilantro lime sauce that brings everything together.
Ingredients:
- 1 head green cabbage, sliced into ½-inch steaks
- 4 Tbsp butter or olive oil
- Salt and black pepper
- Garlic powder
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- Juice of 1 to 1½ limes
- 1 small clove garlic, minced
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- Pinch of brown sugar
Instructions:
Heat oven to 425°F. Slice cabbage into ½-inch steaks and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Sear cabbage in butter in a hot skillet, 3 to 4 minutes per side, until lightly browned. Transfer to a baking sheet and roast 15 to 20 minutes, until tender and caramelized.
Whisk together mayonnaise, olive oil, fresh lime juice, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, sea salt, cayenne, and a pinch of brown sugar until smooth.
